In this essay, we will show you the introduction of quick disconnect terminal from several aspects of its definition, main series, the process of using it and some other things that needed attention. Hope through this article you can get something useful for your study or work.

List:

1. The definition of quick disconnect terminals

2. The main series of quick disconnect terminal

3. The process of using quick disconnect terminals

4. Other things needing attention

The definition of quick disconnect terminals

Quick discount terminal is a device for connecting wires in a circuit, sometimes it could also be called quick disconnections and are constructed of tin-plated brass, per NEMA specifications. There are male and female terminals of quick disconnect terminals. The terminals are crimped onto the end of a wire using a crimper and no need of soldering. The insulators are molded vinyl (PVC), extruded nylon or molded nylon.

The main series of quick disconnect terminal

The Quick Disconnect family consists of fully insulated male quick disconnects, fully-insulated quick disconnects, Flags and Piggyback Quick Disconnects.

1. Fully-Insulated Male Quick Disconnects are precision engineered, allowing the terminal to fit precisely into a female terminal. This "splice" may be connected and disconnected without damage to the nylon insulation.

2. Fully Insulated Quick Disconnects is the premium quick-disconnect terminal option. These QDs are made of a Krimptite™ terminal with a brass sleeve on the barrel, and completely insulated with molded nylon housing, providing all the benefits of an AviKrimp QD, with full insulation.

3. Flags are available in insulated and non-insulated versions and are used when there is a space constraint and a regular straight Quick Disconnect is too large.

4. Piggyback Quick Disconnects can be used when multiple connections (also called piggyback) are required and there are a limited number of male tabs. The piggyback allows another QD to be connected to its tab and then the piggyback is connected to a tab.

The process of using quick disconnect terminals

1. Strip the first insulation wire of 1/2 inch. Next, place the male quick disconnect above the bare end of the insulation wire. That is, the plastic part is over the insulation. And at the same time, ensure that the stripped wire could touch the metal on the quick disconnect terminal. Then, crimp the plastic end of the quick disconnect terminal into an oval shape which is opposed to the round shape of the uncrimped terminal.

2. Strip the second insulation wire of 1/2 inch. Next, place the female quick disconnect above the bare end of the second wire. Like the first insulation wire, make the stripped wire touch the metal on the quick disconnect terminal.

3. Plug the male quick disconnect terminal into the female quick disconnect terminal.

Other things needing attention

  • We suggest that while doing initial assembly the terminals not be pushed all the way in, but only loosely attached. That way they can be removed easily in the event that the wiring was wrong.

  • The terminals we use are not coated on the outside, so after the connections are made you should insulate it by wrapping the connection with Vinyl Electrical Tape, which will help prevent having a Short Circuit.

We have roughly talked about quick disconnect terminals from four perspectives: the definition of quick disconnect terminals, the main series of quick disconnect terminal, the process of using quick disconnect terminals and other things needing attention. Maybe the points we mentioned before are not sufficient enough, we still wish that this short essay could offer help to you to some extent.
