How to solder a circular connector?

Circular connectors are ideal for applications that require electrical connectors with stronger terminals. Their cylindrical shape makes them particularly resistant to mechanical turbulence and impact damage. More and more companies are choosing circular connectors to connect circuits. Now let’s introduce what a circular connector is.

Here is the content list:

The manufacturing steps of circular connectors

The basic structure of a circular connector

The applications of circular connectors

The manufacturing steps of circular connectors

1. Material selection. The first step is to select materials according to customer requirements. This step is very important. The material of the circular connector shell should consider the use environment, whether it is shielded, sealed, whether it should be environmentally friendly, etc. At present, aluminum, copper, stainless steel can be used, and the insulator is made of PTFE material, and its temperature should be considered. Earthquake resistance. Secondly, consider its structure and choose the size of the material.

2. Electroplating. The circular electrical connector pin is stamped, and the shell should be sent for electroplating after the processing of the shell is completed. At this stage, the electronic contact surface of the circular connector will be plated with various metal coatings. There are different technical requirements such as silver plating, gold plating, oxidation coloring, army green, chrome plating, nickel plating, stainless steel passivation, and different production processes.

3. Injection molding. The usual process for the insulator of the circular electrical connector is to inject molten plastic into the metal fetal film, and then rapidly cool it into shape.

4. Assemble. The final stage of circular electrical connector manufacturing is finished product assembly. After assembling, there are two types of plug-in tests: individual mating or combined mating. Individual mating means inserting one pin at a time; combined mating means connecting multiple pins with the box seat at the same time. No matter which connection method is adopted, the manufacturer requires that all the pins are checked for missing and correct positioning during the assembly stage; after the pins and sockets are not problematic, check whether the plugs and sockets are flexible and whether the positioning rivets are effective. On the whole, there should be no scratches, and no low-level errors such as length and shortness of the screw can occur, and the final inspection can be carried out.

The basic structure of a circular connector

1. Contacts. The contact is the core part of the circular connector to complete the electrical connection function. Generally, a contact pair is composed of a female contact piece and a male contact piece, and the electrical connection is realized by the insertion of the female contact piece and the male contact piece.

2. Possession. The accessories are divided into structural accessories and installation accessories. Structural accessories such as positioning pins, clamp rings, coupling rings, sealing rings, guide pins, positioning keys, cable clamps, gaskets, etc. Install accessories such as spring rings, screws, screws, nuts, etc. Most of the accessories have common parts and standard parts.

3. Insulator. The insulator is also often called a base or a mounting plate. Its function is to arrange the contact pieces according to the required position and spacing and to ensure the insulation performance between the contact pieces and between the contact piece and the housing.

4. Shell. The shell, also called the outer shell, is the outer cover of the circular connector. It provides mechanical protection for the built-in insulating mounting plate and pins, and provides the alignment of the plug and socket when mating, and then fixes the connector to the device.

The applications of circular connectors

The cylindrical structure of the circular connector has natural sturdiness and a higher strength-to-weight ratio than any other shape. It is easy to machine with standard machine tools. It is easier to seal, insert and disconnect. Simple and firm locking mechanism. Ten years of technological development has given it a complete and reasonable process and high reliability. Therefore, it is required to use the multi-contact connector to realize the interconnection between the component and the cable, and the circular connector is the first choice.

Shenzhen Hongru Connector Co., Ltd. has developed a variety of different circular connectors and conducted a large number of tests before leaving the factory to ensure quality. If you are in the circular connectors business, you can consider using our cost-effective products.
