What types of wire to board connector are there?

Wire-to-board connectors are needed in many places in life. In many cases, there is a certain distance between the printed circuit board and the substrate, which requires wires to connect. Long-distance connection can be achieved by soldering the wires to the chip. However, due to functional considerations, multi-pin wire to board connectors are usually used to connect.

This article contains the following:

1.Offset type wire to board connector

2.Reduced-height wire to board connector

3.Single element electrical connector

1.Offset type wire to board connector

An offset type wire to board connector is provided to be applied in a product requiring a microminiaturized and ultrathin panel such as a light emitting diode and a TV set or the like very usefully, by assuring an assembly space when a header is combined with or assembled on a housing. In addition, a maximum soldering section can be ensured by the protruding portion and the ventilation hole of an assembling inserting sheet. An anti-warping and a guiding inclination surface of the assembling inserting sheet may prevent the warping of the header and achieve a guiding effect. Further, an inclination supporting stopping portion formed on the inner wall surface of the inserting slot of an outer cover correspondingly contacts the protruded inclination surface of the outer cover. Therefore, locking/unlocking can be executed in a compact space and the guiding effect can be achieved when combination is performed. An effect of minimizing movement after combination is achieved so as to maintain very stable binding force. A header isolating film is formed and a reinforcing rib of the outer cover is inserted into a long hole. Therefore, an effect of ensuring strengthening withstand voltage caused by insulating distance is achieved. And effects of guiding stabilization in combination and preventing contraction in injection molding are achieved.

2.Reduced-height wire to board connector

A reduced height wire to board connector assembly includes mating plug and receptacle connectors. The receptacle connector has an internal recess which opens vertically and receives a plug connector therein. Wires are terminated to terminals of the plug connector and they extend out through a wire insertion portion in one of the sidewalls of the receptacle connector. The receptacle connector has a conductive member supported thereby and this fixing member provides a ground connection and a retaining function to the receptacle connector. The plug connector has insulation displacement type terminals and two wire clamps to retain the wires terminated thereto in place.

3.Single element electrical connector

A single element electrical connector includes a single conductive contact element formed into a cage structure having a wire insert end and a wire contact end along a longitudinal centerline axis of the connector. The cage structure defines an upper pick-up surface having a surface area suitable for placement of a suction nozzle of a vacuum transfer device, as well as a pair of contact tines biased towards the centerline axis to define a contact pinch point for an exposed core of a wire inserted into the connector. A contact surface is defined by a member of the cage structure for electrical mating contact with a respective contact element on a component on which the connector is mounted.
